Giving Green Fund Announces $1.94M in February 2026 Grants for Clean Energy and Industrial Decarbonization
In Q4 of 2025, Giving Green announced $26 million (USD) in new grant funding from the Giving Green Fund (GGF). As we enter 2026, we are continuing our GGF grantmaking with six new grants announced this February, totaling $1.94 million. These grants span the following strategies:
This round of grantmaking is the first we have planned for 2026 and will maintain the momentum set in motion by the grant cycle announced at the end of last year. We will follow up with a separate round of GGF grant announcements that continue to build upon our recently released philanthropic strategies. Later in the year, we will also release new research and subsequent GGF grants informed by our work.

February 2026 GGF Grants
Unleashing Clean Energy (UCE) in the U.S.
Our Unleashing Clean Energy in the U.S. strategy report—which focuses on meeting growing U.S. energy demand with clean, reliable, and cheap energy—was released in November 2025 along with a list of grant announcements. Now, during the February 2026 grantmaking round, we have selected four additional grants aligned with this strategy. These grants build on our previous funding efforts and cover areas of our strategy report that we have not yet funded. Together, they span sub-strategies including federal permitting reform, interconnection and grid modernization, and clean firm financing.
We believe the work led by these grantees will help advance the integration of mature clean energy technologies, support the commercialization and deployment of clean firm technologies in the U.S., and ultimately reduce emissions.

Decarbonizing Heavy Industry
As we prepare to reassess our Decarbonizing Heavy Industry strategy report later this year, we selected three grants under this strategy that we believe will be impactful ahead of that review. These grants will support decarbonization efforts across several industries, including cement, steel, chemicals, and aluminum. They will also support early-stage development of geologic hydrogen (also known as white or gold hydrogen), which, if key uncertainties are resolved, has the potential to decarbonize a range of industrial processes.

What We Have Planned for 2026
In addition to making grants across our existing philanthropic strategies, we have several new efforts planned for 2026 that will help guide philanthropic action and inform future GGF grants.
Below, we outline the strategies we plan to review, as well as new areas we intend to explore. This outline provides a snapshot of our current priorities. We may modify or add new strategies later in 2026 as we get deeper into our research. To stay up to date, please follow us on social media (links) or sign up for our newsletter.
Unleashing Clean Energy in the U.S.
In our Unleashing Clean Energy in the U.S. strategy report, we highlighted several areas that we were not able to explore in depth, such as advanced transmission technologies, as well as other topics that may warrant further investigation. In 2026, we plan to review some of these areas and may update the report if we find they represent major barriers or high-impact solutions. While this work is unlikely to change our overall strategy, it could lead to additional grants later this year.
Supporting the Energy Transition in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)
While our Supporting the Energy Transition in LMICs strategy received a partial update in November 2025 to add rigor to our country prioritization approach, we recently hired a full-time researcher in India to support our team in developing a more comprehensive strategy and expanding our grantmaking in LMICs.
Managing Extreme Climate Risks
In 2026, Giving Green plans to explore a new strategy focused on managing extreme climate risks. Our existing Scaling Carbon Dioxide Removal and Advancing Solar Radiation Management Governance strategy reports will provide a foundation for this research. Both were last updated in October 2024 and are now due for review. In addition to integrating this prior work, we will conduct new research on strategies to manage tail risks to develop a more holistic approach to our grantmaking in this space.
Decarbonizing Heavy Industry & Reducing Food System Emissions
Both our Decarbonizing Heavy Industry and Reducing Food System Emissions strategy reports were last updated in October 2024 and are now up for review. Since their release, political, technological, and economic conditions have evolved, and we expect our strategies to shift as well. These reviews may lead to changes in our grantmaking approach and, in turn, new GGF grants later in the year.
